Everett author Roy Holman will read from and talk about his book, “Healing Self, Healing Earth: Awakening Presence, Power, and Passion,” from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at Zippy’s Java lounge.

Holman’s book outlines his theories on getting in touch with the natural world through yoga, meditation, health and balance in your life. Its list price is $15.95.

Doig’s latest “Work”: Well-known Northwest author Ivan Doig will read from and sign copies of his latest novel, “Work Song,” at 11 a.m. Saturday at Edmonds Bookshop, 111 Fifth Ave. S.

“Work Song,” the sequel to “The Whistling Season,” catches up with Morrie Morrison in 1919 rural Montana as he runs afoul of the Anaconda Mining Co.

Cultchah: Seattle Opera’s Education Department presents a discussion on “Tristan and Isolde,” composer Richard Wagner’s romantic opera, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Edmonds Library.
