Brides, find your gown and a bargain in Snohomish

If you are a bride-to-be and you are looking for something borrowed and something “green,” this event can serve both those needs while you serve a worthy cause.

The Brides Against Breast Cancer Nationwide Tour of Gowns is coming to Snohomish this weekend at Belle Chapel.

The tour of gowns travels the country each year with truckloads of discounted wedding gowns for sale, which have been donated to the organization by famous designers, manufacturers, bridal shops and individuals, according to public relations assistant Brittney Wolf of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation.

So brides-to-be can get bargains and be “green” by buying a used gown.

The Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to granting wishes to men and women battling terminal breast cancer. The proceeds from the sale of gowns benefit the foundation.

The charity wedding gowns range from $199 and up, including hundreds of brand-name and designer gowns, some valued at up to $8,000. Tiaras, veils, crinolines and other accessories will also be offered, Wolf said in a press release.

While the tour is in town, the foundation will also be searching for residents in the area with terminal breast cancer who would like dreams fulfilled. Those individuals can contact www.makingmemories.org for a wish packet.

The general gown sale is free to the public and will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Belle Chapel, 231 Ave. B, Snohomish. For more information go to www.bridesagainstbreastcancer.org.
