It’s lace tying the knot with social media.
Something old, something new. That’s the theme of the Snohomish Wedding Tour on June 2.
It fits with the trend, said Zerlinda Lochtie, whose Laineemeg Bridal shop at 1212 First St. in Snohomish is among 18 venues on the self-guided tour in the picturesque river town.
“People want straps and sleeves,” Lochtie said. “It has a bit of the vintage romantic appeal to it.”
Brides are finding what they like the new-fashioned way, through Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter and blogs.
For many brides, a Pinterest board is the virtual wedding planner.
“It’s huge,” Lochtie said. “They can plan an entire wedding through pictures. They make a board. It’s a visual resource, and it’s free. It’s a never-ending fountain of ideas.”
It doesn’t replace wedding professionals; rather, it complements what they do.
“They typically come in with their board on their phone or iPad and show us what they’re interested in,” Lochtie said. “It gives us a better vision of what the overall look is. We find styles to match their vision.”
About 100 wedding industry pros will be on hand at the venues to talk about everything from garters to honeymoons.
Guests can taste treats from caterers, smell the flowers, listen to deejays’ playlists and walk down the aisles.
This is the launch year for Green Gates at Flowing Lakes, a former equestrian farm that’s now a wedding venue with a Tuscan flair.
The 2.5-acre waterfront spread is owned by Shoreline firefighter/EMT Kerry Horner and his wife, Debbie, a Snohomish County Superior Court clerk.
The 12-by-12-foot groom’s cabin was reconstructed using 100-year-old hand-sawn logs. The bridal cottage is an original horse barn decked with Victorian frills.
