The Seattle Art Museum Downtown, the Seattle Asian Art Museum and the Olympic Sculpture Park Pavilion will be closed to the public today through Feb. 15 in a move to reduce its operating budget this year.
SAM staffers will take a furlough until Feb. 14.
The closure is timed to take place between major exhibitions and during a typically slow time of year, according to a press release from the museum.
The SAM Gallery, 1220 Third Ave., and the Olympic Sculpture Park grounds will remain open.
The SAM website, www. seattleartmuseum.org, will remain active.
Museum management estimates a savings of more than $200,000 during the closures.
