Here’s some Mosquito news that won’t bug you. The Flying Heritage Collection’s de Havilland Mosquito is nearing completion at a restoration facility in New Zealand. In a few months the plane is scheduled to fly for the first time. It will shipped to US this Winter (or Summer if you are down there with the Kiwis) in time for next year’s flying season.
De Havilland’s nearly-all-wooden twin-engine machine took on many roles during the war—fighter, bomber, recon plane, trainer, night fighter, and more. The FHC’s plane was held by the Imperial War Museum in the 1960s and briefly appeared in the movie 633 Squadron in 1963.
