Calendar booked up at Historic Everett Theatre

EVERETT — The Historic Everett Theatre’s Curt Shriner is on a roll.

As of this week, Shriner had booked a variety of acts into the theater all the way through December 2015.

Stand-up comedy, plays, films, documentaries, concerts.

He’s got Blue Öyster Cult, Edgar Winter, Al Stewart, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Foghat, John Sebastian, Heart by Heart, Geoffrey Castle, Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel, country singer Marc Wills, the Inside Outlaws, the Red Elvises, Randy Hansen’s Hendrix tribute, Midnight Rambler’s Rolling Stones tribute and a tribute to the Rat Pack’s Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

“I work on booking each day,” Shriner said. “I have to stay ahead of a lot of venues. I am trying to mix it up, with different genres.”

Christian Ford the illusionist will be back next year, as will blues star Curtis Salgado. The comedian Gallagher is scheduled, as is the Wanderlust Circus performing their own adaptation “A Christmas Carol” and the vaudevillian March 4 Marching Band from Portland. Also, look for a new musical version of the “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

The Outcast Players, the house drama team, presents the hilarious “Moon Over Buffalo” this fall. Then “She Said What?” a comedy written by Shriner and performed by the Outcast Players, goes up next summer.

The “Tuesday Afternoon at the Movies” series offers classic film showings for only $5.

The goal is to try to make a visit to the old theater affordable, Shriner said.

“We have taken a couple of major hits and lost some money since we took over,” Shriner said. “We chalk it up to some great summer weather and just learning what audiences want.”

This week, the Historic Everett Theatre hosts “Late Nite Catechism,” billed as a “mix of monologue, stand-up, improv and Oprah” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12.

The New Blues Brothers tribute band plays at 8 p.m. Sept. 13.

Comedian Susan Jones takes the stage at 8 p.m. Sept. 20 to talk about being a single mom and other life experiences.
