There once was a paper in Everett,
That came up with the best gimmick yet.
Instead of free beer,
It offered up cheer,
For the readers who sent in a limerick.
Attention all limerickologists! It’s time for The Daily Herald’s Limerick Contest.
Give us your best five lines. (Better than this, please.) Make them rhyme in a A-A-B-B-A scheme. You can write about girls from Nantucket, but don’t use words we can’t print in the newspaper. Make use of double-entendre, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, idioms, puns and other figurative devices. End with a bang.
Limericks will run on Sunday’s March 13 Good Life page.
Deadline to enter is March 7.
Winners will be chosen in three categories: Adults, 19 and older. Ages 13 to 18. Ages 12 and under.
Send to abrown@heraldnet.com.
