“Mr. Holmes”

PG, 105 minutes, Miramax

Ian McKellen plays Sherlock Holmes as an old man in 1947, forced into retirement and trying to remember his last big case. Contains some disturbing images. Extras include “Icon” and “Story” behind-the-scenes featurettes.

“Self/less”

PG-13, 117 minutes, Universal

Ben Kingsley plays a wealthy man dying of cancer who transfers his consciousness into the body of a younger man (Ryan Reynolds), with unforseen consequences. Washington Post critic Ann Hornaday says “it could just as easily have been called ‘Brain/less,’ ‘Pulse/less’ and ‘Point/less.’” Contains violence, some sexuality and obscenity. Extras include “Inside Self/Less,” “Shedding,” commentary with director Tarsem Singh. Blu-ray adds “On the Run: The Action of Self/Less.”

“Terminator Genisys”

PG-13, 126 minutes, Paramount

Part sequel, part reboot and part remake, the fifth film in the sci-fi series that began in 1984 brings back Arnold Schwarzenegger as the cyborg sent back in time to protect Sarah Connor, now played by Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”). Contains violence, partial nudity and brief crude language. Blu-ray extras include “Family Dynamics: Casting “Terminator Genisys” and how the actors filled some of the most iconic roles in cinematic history; “Infiltration and Termination” behind-the-scenes at the San Francisco and New Orleans filming locations; “Upgrades: VFX of Terminator Genisys” visual effects featurette.

“Trainwreck”

R, 122 minutes, Universal

Amy Schumer makes the leap to the big screen as a magazine writer who has a problem with commitment, in this edgy romantic comedy from director Judd Apatow. Contains sexual content, nudity, obscenity and some drug use. Extras include unrated version; “Gag Reel: Part 1”; Line-O-Rama; “The Secrets of the Wu,” in which Method Man talks with Norman Lloyd about his experience as part of the Wu Tang Clan and even invites Lloyd to join Wu; commentary with director Judd Apatow, writer-star Amy Schumer, and associate producer Kim Caramele. Blu-ray adds deleted, alternate and extended scenes; “Behind the Scenes” featurette; “Directing Athletes: A Blood Sport”; “The Dogwalker” movie within a movie with Daniel Radcliffe; “Trainwreck Comedy Tour” featurette, Red Band trailer.

Also: “Bad Boys I &II: 20th Anniversary Collection” (both films newly remastered in 4K, with “Bad Boys II” making its Blu-ray debut), “Bound to Vengeance” (young woman held captive by psycho escapes and seeks revenge), “Dinosaur Train: Dinosaurs Are Different” (eight adventures from The Jim Henson Company), “Flowers in the Attic: The Complete Saga” (all four chapters of the dysfunctional Dollanganger family saga), “Pay the Ghost” (estranged couple Nicolas Cage and Sarah Wayne Callies search for their missing son), “Restless” (BBC drama based on the spy novel by William Boyd), “Star Wars Steelbooks” (the “Star Wars” films released as commemorative Blu-ray steelbooks with new character packaging), “Wild City” (first film in seven years from Hong Kong filmmaker Ringo Lam), “Zarafa” (animated film based on the true story of the first giraffe to visit France).

Television series: “Automan: The Complete Series” (all 13 episodes of the 1980s series), “Better Call Saul: Season One” (three-disc set with all 10 uncensored episodes), “Dick Van Dyke Show: Complete Remastered Series” (25-disc set), “Foyle’s War: The Complete Saga” (29-disc collector’s edition with all 28 episodes of the series), “Manimal: The Complete Series” (three-disc set with all eight episodes), “Maude: The Complete Third Season” (three-disc set with all 23 episodes), “Rebus: The Ken Stott Collection” (all four series of the TV show based on the Inspector Rebus novels by Ian Rankin), “WKRP in Cincinnati: The Complete Final Season” (three-disc set with all 22 episodes).
