Focus on Farming, a sixth- annual conference celebrating local agriculture, will be held Thursday at the Tulalip Resort & Conference Center in Marysville.
Everyone is welcome to attend the full day of workshop sessions designed to help farmers and local food systems succeed.
This year’s speakers include David Mas Masumoto, author of “Wisdom of the Last Farmer,” who will talk during a gourmet lunch of local foods prepared by local chefs; former New Jersey secretary of agriculture Charles Kuperus, who will give a morning keynote address; and cowboy poet Baxter Black, described by the New York Times as “probably the nation’s most successful living poet,” who will perform at 4:45 p.m. before the conference’s annual local wine and artisan cheese social.
Conference registration is $50 at door.
Fans of Black who don’t want to attend the entire conference, can pay $20 for his performance and the wine and cheese social.
