TICKETS ON SALE: A March appearance on PBS helped push Celtic Thunder up the Billboard charts.
Now, the act from the British Isles plans to rumble into Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center as part of its debut tour of the United States. Tickets for the Dec. 7 show go on sale today.
The group’s first album, “Celtic Thunder: The Show,” has rested at the top of Billboard’s world music chart for months. It received a bump in publicity thanks to an airing by PBS of the group’s Dublin concert, which serves as the basis for the album and a DVD.
The quintet, ranging in age from 14 to 40, sings traditional Irish and Scottish music, such as songs like “Mountains of Mourne,” and modern hits, including “Desperado,” the Eagles’ song. During shows, the men sing both as an ensemble and take turns for solo performances.
The concert is the second major music offering announced by Comcast Arena in two weeks. A week ago, tickets went on sale for Sarah Brightman, a Broadway soprano and pop star. Brightman’s show is scheduled for Dec. 14.
Tickets for Celtic Thunder go on sale at 10 a.m. today for $37.50, $47.50 or $57.50 before service charges. For more information, go to www.comcastarenaeverett.com or call 866-332-8499.
