Chamber society presents Easter concert

Port Gardner Bay Chamber Music Society presents an Easter afternoon concert featuring singer-songwriter and local favorite Nadine Shanti on Sunday in Everett.

Along with pianist Eugene Bein, Shanti will present a program of music including works from Lennon and McCartney, Carole King, Cole Porter and original compositions, including the Northwest premiere of her “New Orleans Suite.”

The concert is at 3 p.m. Sunday at Dorothy Jayne Studio, 2931 Bond St., Everett. Tickets are $10, $8 student, at the door a half hour before the performance. Or for advance tickets, call Linda Graham at 425-353-7311.

Daedalus String Quartet: The UW International Chamber Music Series concludes its 2005-2006 season Tuesday with the Daedalus String Quartet and guest pianist Byron Schenkman.

This young quartet, the winner of the 2001 Banff International String Quartet Competition, will perform Mendelssohn and Bartok quartets and then be joined by Seattle’s own Byron Schenkman for Dvorak’s Quintet, Op. 81.

The performance is at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Meany Theater on the UW campus. Tickets are $31 at the UW Arts Ticket Office (206-543-4880) or online at www.uwworldseries.org. A pre-show lecture is at 7:15 p.m. in the Meany Hall west lobby.
