You are going to meet C-3PO, visit the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and see more than 80 authentic “Star Wars” costumes, displays, models and props.
But you might learn a thing or two about science along your way through this Pacific Science Center exhibit, “Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination,” which opens Saturday.
In addition to lots of fun displays, the exhibit takes visitors on an exploration of futuristic technologies that happened to be part of the “Star Wars” world and compares those devices, tools and techniques with how far we’ve really come in the science world, according to press material about the exhibit.
The exhibit centers around the themes of “Getting Around” and “Robots and People.”
The “Getting Around” displays include — for the first time on public view — Luke Skywalker’s original landspeeder from “Star Wars: New Hope.”
Visitors can also take a virtual jump to lightspeed in a simulated ride in the Millennium Falcon.
“Robots and People” features the dinosaur-like Troody and a floor-vacuuming Roomba, press material said.
“Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination” opens at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pacific Science Center, 200 Second Ave. N, Seattle. Exhibit times are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through May 8.
Tickets are a timed entry starting at $20 for adults and $13 for children. Call 206-443-2879 or go to www.pacsci.org.
