Choices in registering for classes and hikes

Register starting May 12

There are four ways to register for Everett Parks and Recreation classes.

Online: Registration begins online at 7 a.m. May 12 at signmeup.everettwa.org. You must have a previously assigned PIN number to register online.

Phone: Call 425-257-8300, ext. 2, beginning at 9 a.m. May 12 or from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday May 13 or later.

Walk in: Hours will be extended from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 12 only at the parks and rec offices at Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd., Everett. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mail: Follow the instructions in the summer guide.

Sign up early for hikes

Many of the summer hikes offered through Everett Parks and Recreation are popular. Follow these tips to get the trips you want.

Choose mid-week trips: Demand is lower and the crowds are thinner.

Don’t give up hope. Though waiting lists can be long, spots often become available, especially a day or two before the trip. If there is a large waiting list, department staff sometimes add extra trips to meet demand.

Visit www.AlpineAndy.com periodically throughout the season for hike agendas and regular updates about trips with openings.

Register for your skill level and age group. Each trip in the guide includes a description, mileage and the amount of elevation gain.

Get a guide

The entire 56-page guide is online in PDF format at www.everettwa.org/parks under “Guides” and guides are available at Everett library branches and at the parks and rec office. Herald subscribers in certain Snohomish County ZIP codes will receive the guide in their copy of the paper on Wednesday.

You can request to be put on the parks and rec quarterly guide mailing list by calling 425-257-8300, ext. 2, or online at parks@ci.everett.wa.us.
