The premiere of this new work starts with a pre-concert interview with the composer at 6:45 p.m. and continues with the concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Benaroya Hall, 200 University St., Seattle. Tickets are $25; 206-365-7770, www.musicofremembrance.org.
This theatrical song cycle is about a gay couple’s tragic fate in the Holocaust. This is the first commission by a musical organization to commemorate the suffering of Germany’s gay population, said Mina Miller, artistic director for Music of Remembrance.
“The new work has international significance through its focus on how the restriction of civil rights led to the oppression and murder of gays during the Holocaust,” Miller said in a statement.
“With a running time of 35 minutes, “For a Look or a Touch” will make a major new addition to the chamber music repertoire.
