Like most of us, Mike Olson was saddened by the images of devastation coming out of Haiti. Olson, a retired Navy man, wanted to help, but he couldn’t jump aboard a boat, so he did something else.
As technical director for the Historic Everett Theatre, Olson put together a benefit concert on Friday for the American Red Cross.
“All the performers are donating their time and talents,” Olson said.
He said the theater is providing the venue and the advertising so that 100 percent of ticket sales will go to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief efforts.
Five local acts are set to perform. Daniel Kamas, a Seattle singer-songwriter who headlined at a recent Hometown Hootenanny at the theater, agreed to participate in the charitable event, along with Brad Loomis, Scene Change, the Neil Diamond tribute band Cherry Cherry and the Back Porch Blues Band.
“The American Red Cross” benefit concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Tickets are $10 per person at the theater box office, online at www.etix.com or at the door the night of the event. The show is suitable for all ages.
