Are we cupcake crazy?
It would seem so.
Snohomish County, in recent years, has become cupcake central with cupcake-centric bakeries popping up all over the area, not just at shopping malls such as Alderwood (Pinkabella), but also at farmers markets (CupcakeLov) and on many Main Streets (Stanwood Cupcakes).
Historic downtown Snohomish is now home to two shops within 50 paces of each other on First Street, Simply Sweet Cupcakes and Bite Me Cupcakes & Eatery.
And that’s not all.
Simply Sweet recently opened a second location at Snohomish Station on Bickford Avenue next to another hot spot for treats, Udderly Sweet Frozen Yogurt.
In November, Bite Me will expand its reach with a cupcake bus, a Bite Me Mobile, offering sales and deliveries in Snohomish and King counties.
Yay.
Just imagine having cupcakes delivered to your office this winter.
Wow.
How did this trend get started?
Last year, CNN traced the hullabaloo back to the year 2000, when “Sex and the City” popularized New York’s Magnolia Bakery and its sugary treats.
But how do our local cupcakes measure up?
Our dining review panel indulged recently to compare the two Snohomish shops’ treats.
Check out the results here.
