I rode and finished the Seattle to Portland bike ride this past weekend, a two-day, 200-mile challenge made more challenging by strong head winds and rain on the second day.
I was going to use the STP to blog on some weighty parental issue like how this event shows the importance of good health to our kids or how in life challenges can be overcome and won with determination.
Seriously, how boring is that?
So instead I think I’ll just copy David Letterman:
The Top 10 Things I Learned From the STP:
—The next time I go to Portland, I’m going to fly, take the train or the bus. Anything but a bicycle.
—I”ve got bragging rights for the next decade.
—Just cuz the food is free, don’t make it good.
—The town of Spanaway has been called a heckhole, and now I know why.
—A hill is any incline in which you must change gears.
—The STP has many, many hills.
—Binge eating is way fun.
—If you are going to wear a joke team jersey like “Poseur Charlatan” gear up to hear the same stupid comment over and over.
—I won’t ever say “The next time I do STP.”
—Chamois butter is your friend
