Friday night, Head Like a Kite and Daydream Vacation performed in front of a packed house at the Croc in Seattle. It was more of a party than it was a concert. That’s not to downplay the quality of the music at all, but when the show ends with several members of the crowd dancing on stage you can’t help but get the “party” vibe.
The bill also included Seattle bands Sports and NighTraiN, who played great sets and a ton of people showed up early to see them. I’m keeping my eye on Sports. That was the second time I have seen them and they impressed me both times.
The party really got started when Head Like a Kite took the stage dawning a pair of twin futuristic space robot costumes and front man Dave Einmo rocking his signature feather boa. After several songs Dave got a little too hot in his costume he and drummer Nat Damm retreated to change outfits and quickly returned to the stage joined by Asya to create Daydream Vacation.
You need to get yourself to a Daydream Vacation show. Their performance is flat out fun. If you can’t have fun at a Daydream Vacation and Head Like a Kite show then I don’t know when you can. Especially when members of the band pull you on stage to dance with them during a sweet remix of “Somebody’s Watching Me”.
