Today marks the darkest day of the year, also known as the winter solstice. That means we can all look forward to brighter days to come.
While we cling to that glimmer of hope, it’s interesting to learn more about the astronomy behind the solstice and some of the ways that humans have celebrated the solstice throughout our history.
Looking for a way to observe the solstice with your family? A candlelit walk through the historic downtown in Snohomish begins at 4 p.m. today between Avenue D and Maple Avenue along the riverside trail.
