Get out your glitter: It’s time to salute the golden age of Hollywood and America’s Sweetheart when Debbie Reynolds joins the Seattle Men’s Chorus for two shows.
This March salute, “Singin’ in the Rain,” showcases hits from classic movie musicals of the 1940s and 1950s. Several famous production numbers will be recreated, including, of course, “Singin’ in the Rain.”
An entire section is devoted to songs from classic westerns such as “How the West Was Won” and “High Noon.” Another section features Oscar-winning songs such as “Moon River.”
Reynolds will perform songs from her roles in “Tammy,” “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” and “Singin’ in the Rain” as well as a tribute to tunes Judy Garland brought to life in film. Reynolds won’t just be singing, either. She also plans to share some saucy Hollywood tales.
This extravaganza includes a generous splash of the ridiculous, so be prepared when singing nuns do battle with the Van Trapp Family Singers.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. March 28 and 2 p.m. March 29 at McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St., Seattle. Prices range from $20 to $65. Call 206-388-1400 or visit www.flyinghouse.org.
