Dream big, fast and grand for 2018

1. Dream home.

It time to enter the annual HGTV Dream Home Giveaway, which every year teases us that the possibility of living in a marvelous showplace is a click away.

Previous homes have been in such places as Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts and California. This year, if you win, you won’t have to move far. It’s in Gig Harbor.

The modern waterfront retreat is part of a grand prize package valued at $1.8 million. The IRS will make you pay taxes on the prize, but you can worry about that later.

Enter daily through Feb. 16.

Getting hitched?

The Seattle Wedding Show on Jan. 13 and 14 can help you make your big day go off without a hitch.

The show is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 13 and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 14 on the fourth floor of the Washington State Convention Center, 705 Pike St., Seattle.

It’s a mecca of more than 400 vendors under one roof — bakeries, bridal boutiques, caterers, disc jockeys, florists, jewelers, photographers, venues and wedding consultants. Gowns, tuxedos, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride dresses will be on display. Shows are at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Four bridal boutiques will offer deep discounts on hundreds of gowns at sales 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 on the days of the show. Children under 12 get in free.
