Platinum-selling soul singer Robin Thicke enlists some big name talent to help him out on his fourth album, “Sex Therapy.”
TRIVIA: Thicke is the son of actor Alan Thicke, who played father Jason Seaver on “Growing Pains.”
STANDOUTS: Thicke drops the soul routine for some Tropicalia-infused hip-hop on “Meiple,” a single featuring Jay-Z.
FANS DIG: Red satin sheets
ANDY SAYS: A lot gets made out of the fact that Thicke is a white guy from Los Angeles who sings like Al Green. Really, that’s not a problem. His songs can be catchy and his lyrics, amusing. Sometimes, though, he pushes the sensual singer shtick too far — his songs often sound like parodies. He’d be wise to remember that, as in love, it’s best not to overcompensate.
