The editor of a new collection of science fiction short stories written by disabled authors will give a talk this month at a book store in Edmonds.
Annie Carl, editor of “Soul Jar,” will discuss the book, its stories and disability representation in literature at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Edmonds Bookshop, 111 Fifth Ave S. Edmonds.
“Soul Jar” received the “Buzz Book” award at the Pacific Northwest Bookseller’s Association Fall trade show in September.
Its stories imagine such wonders as a shapeshifter on a first date, skin that sprouts orchid buds, an insulin pump that diverts an undead mob, and a pizza delivery on Mars that goes wrong.
Carl also owns The Neverending Bookshop, 7530 Olympic View Drive, No. 105, Edmonds, which specializes in science fiction, fantasy, romance, mystery, young adult and children’s books written by disabled, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and female authors.
