What: A stroll to see lighted and decorated boats at the Edmonds Yacht Club.
Where: Along the boardwalk south of the ferry dock on the Edmonds waterfront.
Why: The owners usually deck out their boats for Christmas parades every year, but this season they are all clustered in the guest moorage area of the Edmonds marina. There are between 25 and 30 decorated boats, some quite elaborate. The lights go on at dusk between 4:30 and 5 p.m. each day until about 11 p.m. through Dec. 26. We parked in the downtown area to make it a longer walk and to enjoy the festive displays and storefronts. Then we walked down Dayton Street and along the boardwalk next to the docks. There is visitor parking, however, in the marina lot. There are a few scattered boats alight at the north end, but keep heading south and you’ll soon see the massed fleet. Visitors can walk out the guest docks if the gates are open. Continue up the ramp that heads over to Marina Beach. The boardwalk is closed right now, as is the beach, but you can walk to the top of the ramp for an overview of the Sound and the Christmas ships. If this brisk waterfront stroll has numbed your ears, there are a number of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops in the Edmonds environs for a warmer-upper.
