Everett Chorale to sing favorites with children

The 90-voice Everett Chorale rings in the season with “A Traditional Holiday Celebration,” their annual holiday concert performed Saturday and Sunday at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Special guest is the Snohomish Children’s Chorus.

The concert, conducted by Lee Mathews, will include sacred choral classics by Buxtehude, Haydn and Bach among others, along with arrangements of such popular Christmas carols as “Silent Night” and “Carol of the Bells.”

Secular holiday songs will include “It’s Christmas Once Again,” “Mistletoe” and “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” classic arrangements made popular by Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians during the 1940s and ’50s.

The Snohomish Children’s Chorus, directed by Shellie Logan, will perform sacred and secular choral music.

Scandinavian Christmas: Celebrate Christmas Scandinavian style on Sunday with the Everett Norwegian Male Chorus. The choir, which at 103 is among the oldest music groups in the state, will sing traditional Scandinavian Christmas songs and other seasonal music at the PUD Auditorium in Everett.

The choir of about two dozen men, directed by Steven Jensen, will be joined by singers from Norwegian choral groups from Seattle and Mount Vernon. During intermission, guests can enjoy Scandinavian baked treats such as krumkake.
