Evergreen Arboretum &Gardens is the little garden that could.
It is featured as a fine example for community parks and gardens in Donald Olson’s new book, The Pacific Northwest Garden Tour. The book highlights 60 of the best public gardens of Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
Olson cites the imaginative mix of trees, plants and sculptures and the public garden’s surprising sophistication as something one would expect to find in a professionally designed and maintained private estate. The 51-year-old garden was created and is maintained by a dedicated cadre of volunteers and board members.
The book is published by Timber Press and can be ordered at www.timber press.com/books. The Everett Library will soon have a rotating copy, and the arboretum will sell copies at future events. Sunnyside Nursery will donate 25 percent of its book sales to the Evergreen Arboretum &Gardens Foundation Southend Development Fund.
Evergreen Arboretum &Gardens is located at Legion Park, 145 Alverson Blvd., in Everett.
