Everett Home & Garden Show set for March 4-6

It’s almost time for the Everett Home & Garden Show.

Now in its ninth year, the annual event will feature home and garden vendors March 4, 5 and 6 at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett.

an usual on Friday and Saturday, will be from noon to 8 p.m. March 4, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 5, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 6.

On March 4, there will be a wine tasting, a new feature, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

On March 5 and 6, free parking will be available in the Snohomish County parking garage at Oakes Avenue and Wall Street, yet another first for the show.

Show highlights will include a focus on renewable energy options, landscape exhibits and guest speakers, who will offer free seminars.

That includes Bob Barca, a master gardener and hummingbird, butterfly and backyard wildlife expert, and Matthew Coates, an architect specializing in sustainable design and green building techniques.

Admission to the show will be $6.75, $6.25 for ages 58 and older, sold at the door. Ages 16 and younger can attend for free.

But first, Seattle: The Seattle Home Show will be Feb. 19 to 27 at Qwest Field Event Center, 800 Occidental Ave., Seattle.

Highlights include Dr. Lori’s Antique Appraisal Comedy Tour featuring a certified appraiser and syndicated newspaper columnist who combines on-the-spot antiques appraisals with comedy, as seen on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” “The Tonight Show” and other TV programs.

Lori will speak at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. daily on Feb. 21, 22 and 23. Her talks will be offered in addition to numerous free seminars at the show.

Show visitors will also be able to walk through model homes and gardens on Idea Street, a community of furnished houses showcasing the latest design and building trends for Northwest homeowners, including a three-bedroom, two-bath vacation home with a solar energy system.

Hours for the show, now in its 67th year, will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

Admission, sold at the door, is $10 or $7 for ages 60 and older, $3 for ages 7 to 15 or free for age 7 and younger.
