The Everett Philharmonic opens its second season on Saturday with the concert “Of Scandal & Spontaneity” featuring works by Beethoven.
The concert will include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, which has been made popular again as part of the soundtrack for the Oscar-winning movie “The King’s Speech.”
All performances will be conducted by music director Paul-Elliott Cobbs, who, like other musicians, split off from the Everett Symphony in 2010 to form the Everett Philharmonic.
The popular stageside chats with Maestro Cobbs and the featured soloists continue again this season and begin at 6 p.m. before the start of the concert. During these chats, the audience can learn more about the composers and the history behind each piece.
The musical selections will include Beethoven’s “Overture to Fidelio,” “Overture to the School for Scandal,” by Samuel Barber and the Concerto for Cello in b Minor, by Dvorak, which features cellist John Michel.
“Of Scandal & Spontaneity” begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave., Everett.
Tickets are $25 for general admission and $20 for seniors and students. To buy tickets or for more information, call 206-270-9729 or go to www.everettphil.org.
