EVERETT — Ryan Crowther says this year’s Fisherman’s Village Music Festival will be the biggest yet.
And, he says, a lot of that has to do with headliner Kevin Morby.
“He’s the biggest name we’ve ever gotten,” said Crowther, founder of the festival. “It’s just going to be a celebration of how far Everett’s come, how far Fisherman’s Village festival has come and how damn good Kevin Morby is.”
The fifth annual multi-genre music festival, hosted by the Everett Music Initative, kicks off Friday at Normanna Lodge, Tony V’s Garage and Black Lab Gallery, on Oakes and Hewitt avenues. Some bands also will play the Historic Everett Theatre on Colby Avenue on Saturday and Narrative Coffee on Wetmore Avenue on Sunday.
As many as 5,000 people are expected to attend the three-day festival featuring more than 60 acts March 30, March 31 and April 1.“This year’s really going to show the depth of community behind Everett’s music festival,” Crowther said. “I hope that we’ll only continue to see grow.”
Who is Crowther most excited to see at this year’s festival?
Kevin Morby, of course.
The acclaimed indie rocker was bassist of Woods and frontman of The Babies before he began a solo career. The Los Angeles-based artist is touring with the release of his fourth album, “City Music.” Morby plays the Historic Everett Theatre at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
EMI’s leader also is looking forward to listening to CCFX and Luke Temple.
CCFX is a new Olympia-based band that is the result of a merger between two pop music acts: CC Dust and Trans FX. Members include Mary Jane Dunphe on vocals, Chris McDonnell on vocals and guitar, and David Jaques on bass. CCFX takes the stage at 8:15 p.m. at Normanna Lodge, also on Saturday.
“CCFX just signed to the label owned by James Mercy of LCD Soundsystem,” he said, “and is just creating really, really neat stuff.”
Luke Temple is a pop-folk artist who records under his own name and with New York-based band Here We Go Magic. His song “Make Right With You” was featured in an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Temple is set to perform at 10:45 p.m. Saturday at Normanna Lodge.
“I’ve been a fan of (Luke Temple’s) music for almost 10 years, and I’ve been tying to get him for as long as I’ve been putting on shows,” Crowther said.
If you don’t already have your tickets, wristbands are $55 for all three days. One-day passes are $25 for Friday, $30 for Saturday and $15 for Sunday. Children 12 and younger get in free. Wristbands and one-day passes will be sold during the festival at Normanna Lodge. Order wristbands in advance at www.thefishermansvillage.com.
