Wrap up the monthlong Everett Reads! celebration this week at Everett’s libraries with free things to do for the whole family.
On Tuesday, celebrate Chinese New Year at 2 p.m. at the Evergreen Branch. The Year of the Rabbit actually began on Feb. 3 this year, but the festivities continue.
Kids and adults can make Lai See, the lucky red envelopes usually used to give money and represent prosperity for the new year.
Also Tuesday, you can stop in at the main branch of the library at 2 p.m. for a “Trip to the Past, Trip to the Future” presentation on local history. The library also is gathering items for a time capsule, so bring your contributions.
On Wednesday, head back the Evergreen Branch at 7 p.m. for book talk on the Everett Reads! selection, “The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet” by Jamie Ford. Sample some sweet dessert while discussing the book.
Saturday, the library winds up the community event with a live jazz/swing music and dancing celebration for all ages at 2 p.m. in the main library auditorium.
The main library is at 2702 Hoyt Ave. Call 425-257-8000 for information. The Evergreen branch is at 9512 Evergreen Way; 425-257-8250. See the Everett Library website, www.epls.org for more library events.
