Paws-On Science: Visitors can learn about racing a solar car to how comic books can make us healthier, with hands-on activities for the whole family from more than 30 University of Washington research programs. “The Owl and the Woodpecker”: Visitors learn about the most important species of owls and woodpeckers in North America while viewing photos and learning how these birds define specific habitats from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Aug. 7. A day devoted to the birds of Washington state and in conjunction with “The Owl and the Woodpecker,” this event has hands-on family activities throughout the day along with displays of bird specimens and presentations. The Battle of Marblemount: The Washington Civil War Association will reenact the civil war in the streets of Marblemount with the Yankee and Confederate soldiers going head to head with musket and artillery fire. The Union Forces are portrayed by the Army of the Columbia, commanded by Col. Ted Sayler. The Confederates are portrayed by Adams Legion, commanded by Lt. Col. Toby Gully. The battle starts at 1 p.m. April 16 and 17. Troops will drill between 10 a.m. and noon on the ball field next to North Cascade Business Association, 59831 State Highway 20, Marblemount.
