Tickets for the West Coast premiere of “Lucy’s Legacy: The Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia” are on sale.
The exhibit, set for Oct. 4 through March 8 at Pacific Science Center in Seattle, features Lucy, the oldest, most complete and best preserved adult fossil of any erect-walking human ancestor.
The 1974 discovery of this 3.2 million-year-old hominid yielded a new species, Australopithecus afarensis, and continues to have a major impact on the scientific understanding of our human origins.
Through additional artifacts spanning more than 200,000 years, visitors will also experience Ethiopia, Lucy’s homeland. Also, Pacific Science Center will feature the IMAX film “Mystery of the Nile,” hands-on interactive exhibits, cultural and scientific demonstrations, and in alliance with the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, a lecture series.
“Lucy’s Legacy: The Hidden Treasures Of Ethiopia” runs Oct. 4 through March 8, except for Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27, Nov. 3 and 27 and Dec. 25.
“Lucy” admission (not including other science center exhibits) is $20.75, $18.25 seniors, $16.25 youth 6 to 12, $9 kids 3 to 5. For “Lucy” admission plus the IMAX movie, prices are $24.75, $22.25, $20.25 and $13.
