The opening weekend of Seattle Center Winterfest 2008 offers celebration, ceremony and a selection of arts and world cultural performances.
It includes an opening concert by Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra, opening ceremony complete with officials, bagpipes and Irish dancers, the three-day Winter Worldfest and a Saturday evening big band dance with Tuxedo Junction and Arthur Murray. The festivities begin at 11 a.m. Nov. 28 at Center House.
Several activities scheduled for the opening weekend continue during the five-week festival, including ice sculpting, bonfires, folksinging, winter tales, winter train and village, Campus Luminata, classic carousel and Starbucks ice rink.
Seattle Center Winterfest 2008 brings five weeks of free performances and free and low-cost activities for all ages to the Seattle Center campus, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 31.
