• Jan. 11: “South Pacific”: Mitzi Gaynor and Rossano Brazi starred in this 1958 musical, adapted from the Broadway show by Rodgers and Hammerstein. The famous soundtrack includes “Some Enchancted Evening,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair,” “Bloody Mary,” “There is Nothing Like a Dame” and “Younger Than Springtime.”
• Jan. 25: “The African Queen”: Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn team up under the direction of John Huston in this 1951 film set in World War I Africa, when missionary Rose Sayer persuades the drunken boat captain Charlie Allnut to use his boat to attack an enemy ship.
• Feb. 8: “The Sound of Music”: Based on a memoir about the real Von Trapp family, this is the story of a postulant who leaves the convent to be a governess for a widower with seven children during the rise of the Nazis in Austria. Julie Andrews stars in this iconic 1965 musical with songs like “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss,” “Do-Re-Mi” and “Climb Every Mountain.”
