Live, from New York: “Saturday Night Live” welcomes Fleet Foxes tonight, as the buzzed-about Seattle band makes its first appearance on the show.
On Fleet Foxes’ MySpace.com page, the performance is listed alongside a brief note: “scared out of brain.” According to its label Sub Pop Records, the group will play “Mykonos” and “Blue Ridge Mountains.”
The five-piece band, known for its soaring harmonies, pastoral lyrics and dense beards, has seen its star shoot up since releasing its self-titled debut in June. The album made dozens of year-end lists, landing at No. 1 on the 2008 Billboard critics’ survey.
Music fans also embraced the group. Its debut sold 9,600 copies on vinyl, making it the eighth best-selling vinyl album of 2008, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Rosario Dawson is scheduled to host tonight’s “SNL,” which airs at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
