It’s not too late to talk farming.
Snohomish County hosts its 13th annual Focus on Farming and Forestry conference from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today, Nov. 3, the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe. You can still register at the door, but space is limited so be sure to get there early.
The conference is meant to improve innovation and generate discussions about economic sustainability for the region’s agricultural community.
Keynote speaker Steve Butcher, CEO of Brown Paper Tickets, kicks off the discussion at 8:15 a.m. Butcher plans to talk about building and maintaining a business in a highly competitive environment.
The lunch keynote speaker, David Kohl, an emeritus professor at Virginia Tech, will offer ideas about marketing for agriculture. In addition to attending keynotes, Focus on Farming participants will be able to spend the day in some of the 28 workshops, networking with others and enjoying a farm-to-table meal created from locally sourced products.
Since agriculture is one of Snohomish County’s most vibrant industries, the annual Focus on Farming and Forestry Conference gives attendees from across the region an opportunity to share best practices, learn new farming techniques and be inspired to provide sustainable and healthy food.
The trade show also is a good place to get ideas for your farm, home and garden.

Conference sponsors include the Snohomish Conservation District, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, Forterra and Snohomish County Parks.
