Culinary Arts Society: Meetings 6:30 p.m. second Wednesdays, Camano Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island; 360-387-0222. Membership $10 per year; members must enter three dishes a year.

Baking series, $58 per person, or $29 for parent-child combination, $20 nonrefundable deposit per class. Beginning sushi rolling, hands-on with Naomi Kakiuchi, 6 to 8 p.m. April 8, $50. Menu: Green soybeans, inside-out California rolls with crab, avocado and cucumber, large rolls, appetizer rolls and sunomono cucumber salad. Class limited to 15 students.

Opening Day of boating menu with yacht crew chef Holly Gibson, 6 to 8 p.m. April 14, $45. Menu: “beetini”, a mix of beets and vodka; white bean bruschetta with arugula and red onions; golden beets with smoked trout; potato with creme fraiche and mint salad; steamed broccolini with creole mustard and sauteed lamb chops with blackberry chipotle grill sauce; almond fruit tart.

Growing herbs in the Pacific Northwest with Annie Lyman, 6 to 8 p.m. April 17; $20.

Spring and summer salads with Karen Lamphere, 6 to 8 p.m. April 22; $25. Menu: quinoa, shrimp and asparagus salad; spring pasta salad with creamy lemon dressing; barley salad with fresh mint.

Savory pies, hands-on with Shirlee Read, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 13, Deer Lagoon Grange Hall, 5147 Bayview Road, Langley; $95. Students bring own rolling pin and apron; class limited to eight students. Menu: down-home chicken pot pie; basic quiche with several fillings; classic English meat turnovers; butternut squash and walnut tart.

Sweet Basil’s in Edmonds: Reservations required for all classes. Unless otherwise noted, classes take place 7 to 9 p.m., Sweet Basil’s School of Cooking, 5820 156th St. SW, Edmonds; 425-743-7438.

April 10 and 24, choose one session; Pasta!Pasta!Pasta!, $42.50. Menu: asparagus and parmigiano-reggiano wrapped in prosciutto; trenne with caramelized onions, lemon zest and capers; linguine with prosciutto and parmigiano-reggiano; spaghetti with tomato-vodka sauce; romaine, walnut and pear vinaigrette salad; Tuscan rosemary and pine nut bars, mascarpone sherbet float.

Wine classes with Dieter Schafer: All take place at South Seattle Community College, 6000 16th Ave. SW, Seattle, unless otherwise noted. Prices are per person, for entire series, or in some cases, for the one-night class. Reservations or registration are required to the phone numbers listed.
