The paintings of four local artists are featured in a group show that opens Monday at The Offset Corner at 310 Maple Ave., Snohomish.
Helen Vanproyen, an oil and acrylic artist from Sultan, will be showing traditional landscape and contemporary works.
Bob Dunn, a wildlife and nature artist from Granite Falls, is showing works in gouache and watercolor.
Evelina Huck, a Kiev, Ukraine native, emigrated to the United States in 1997 and became a citizen in 2002 and now lives in Snohomish. She is showing still-life and landscape paintings in oil.
Janet Myer, of Marysville, works in acrylic, watercolor and colored pencil. Her paintings frequently reflect her American Indian heritage from the Cowlitz Tribe as well as modern urban life.
Meet the artists at a reception 6-8 p.m. Aug. 14 at the gallery. The show runs through August.
Equestrian art: Kids are often crazy about horses. Now they can turn their love of the animals into art at a four-day drawing workshop offered at the Coupeville Arts Center.
Stephanie Besaw, a Whidbey artist and illustrator, will teach a youth workshop in equestrian art for children age 11 and older Monday through Aug. 6.
Students will study a live model as well as paint from a favorite photograph to create a portrait.
The class runs 9 a.m.-noon each day and the cost is $75; 360-678-3396.
Honored artists: Four state artists, including three from Seattle, have been named recipients of Flintridge Foundation Awards for the visual arts. The awards include $25,000 grants.
The Seattle artists and their media are: Randy Hayes, paint on photographs; Robert C. Jones, painting; and Akio Takamori, ceramic sculpture.
Robert Helm, a Pullman mixed-media painter, is also a winner.
The fourth biennial awards honor California, Oregon and Washington artists working in fine arts and crafts media whose work demonstrates high artistic merit and a distinctive voice for 20 or more years.
