Those guys in Coldplay just can’t stop giving things away.
First there was the limited-time-only download of “Violet Hill,” off its latest album, “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.” Then there was a free show at Madison Square Garden. Now we get “Death Will Never Conquer.”
“Tonight’s the first night of our tour,” the group writes on its Web site. “To say thank you to everyone who’s bought tickets and supported us, here’s a new song called ‘Death Will Never Conquer.’ You’ll hear it at the concerts with a twist…”
The ellipsis is there own.
The song is short; 1:16, to be precise. A piano-based spiritual, it finds Chris Martin singing that, “If sweet death should ever come for me, let me know boys, let me know.” It feels relatively light, lyrics aside, and is worth downloading. Granted, it’s free, so it’s also literally worthless, but you know what I’m saying.
As for the tour, still no dates announced for Washington. The closest Coldplay comes is still the Pemberton Festival in British Columbia.
