Since April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. George Hussey is offering free screenings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 25 at his Smokey Point clinic.
Every adult should be checked since approximately 40,000 people in the United States will be diagnosed with the disease this year, according to the Oral Cancer Foundation’s website, www.oral cancer.org.
Early detection is easy with a quick, painless examination.
There are two distinct causes of oral cancer, either through the use of alcohol and tobacco, or through exposure to the human papilloma virus 16, which is now the leading cause of cervical cancer in women, according to foundation website.
Call Hussey’s office, 16825 Smokey Point Blvd, Arlington, at 360-653-5197 to schedule an appointment for the free examination.
