It looks like the Rotary folks thought of everyone.
So whether you like Irish singers or comic jugglers, rock wall climbing or classic yachts, trout fishing or giant inflatable rides, the 24th annual Edmonds Rotary Waterfront Festival appears to have something fun for all tastes.
The three-day festival opens today at the Port of Edmonds, with the music starting at 3 p.m. on the Dale Turner YMCA Family Stage.
The family stage offers a variety of acts and entertainment over the three days of the festival, including Africa-inspired drum music by Bill Matthews & Friends; martial arts by Master Cho; magic by Bruce Meyer; snakes, crocs and other creatures from Reptile Isle; comedy juggler Eric Haines; and a Hawaiian dance show by Hula O Lehualani.
There’s also a beer stage with entertainment for grownups.
When not being entertained by live acts, visitors can amuse themselves by trying to scale a 25-foot climbing wall, playing on inflatable rides, improving their aim at the paintball gallery, taking a pony ride or getting their faces painted.
The Edmonds Laebugtens Salmon Chapter Trout Unlimited will be holding an open house at the Willow Creek Fish Hatchery from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
There will be free trout fishing for kids 12 and under, and chapter members will clean the fish. Free coffee, popcorn, juice and cookies will be provided along with tours of the hatchery. Shuttle buses from the festival will be provided. For more information contact Trout Unlimited at the Willow Creek Fish Hatchery at 425-771-5970.
More than 20 classic wooden yachts will converge on the Edmonds Marina for the Classic Yacht Rendezvous, also from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Many of the boats can be boarded though guests are asked to wear soft-soled shoes.
For the first time this year, the waterfront festival will have the “Old Man’s” barge on display.
The admiral’s barge or the Old Man IV was delivered to the Navy in 1957. This Navy cutter was once used as the official vessel for the admiral and now is a floating piece of history.
Festival visitors also can buy raffle tickets for a chance to win a seven-day cruise for two on a Holland America ship.
The 24th annual Edmonds Rotary Waterfront Festival will be held from 3 to 10 p.m. today;10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Port of Edmonds Marina, 420 Admiral Way, Edmonds.
The festival is a fundraiser for the Edmonds Rotary Club. General admission is $3; children 10 and under are free.
