The weather can affect what happens in the soil, but not in the yard.
A barrage of garage sale posters signal that community yard sales have started for the season.
This Saturday is the 30th annual Great Mukilteo Garage Sale, where sales pop up all over town blooming with bargains.
Some sellers like to turn it into a three-day event and set up shop on the lawn Friday through Sunday.
Like other community sales, Mukilteo draws numerous loyal and repeat buyers in addition to all the residents who make the rounds scooping up stuff.
It’s not only lawns and garages that turn into meccas of toys, clothes, decor, furniture and other trappings and trimmings of civilization. Rosehill Community Center will have numerous tables set up for inside buying and selling.
The Mukilteo sale is always held the last Saturday in April.
Here’s a list of some of the larger community sales going on:
Great Mukilteo Garage Sale: April 29. Includes neighborhoods in south Everett, Picnic Point and Serene Lake. There will also be tables set up from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave.
Miss the sales? Check the curbs. Residents put lots of things out for the practically-anything-goes Spring Clean-Up next week on regular garbage pickup days.
Biannual Mill Creek Garage Sale: May 6. The city yard sale is twice a year, on the first Saturday in May and again on the first Saturday in October. The sales span all neighborhoods of Mill Creek.
Everett’s Harborview-Seahurst-Glenhaven Neighborhood Association: May 20. About 25 homes are expected to take part in the sale that has been going on for about 20 years. Maps are provided listing items for sale.
Everett’s Northwest Neighborhood’s Mother of all Garage Sales: Aug. 5. More than 100 families participate. It lives up to its name. There are maps, portable toilets and food trucks around Drew Nielsen Neighborhood Park.
Marysville’s Junk in the Trunk: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8, Municipal Court Parking Lot, 1015 State Ave. For $25, sellers get car and table space in a pedestrian-friendly venue.
