Genesis G80 Executive Sedan Does Not Disappoint

Sport Prestige AWD Trim Leaves No Box Unchecked

You know a car is gonna be expensive when a CEO calls its product an “executive sedan.”

Such is the case with the newly redesigned 2025 Genesis G80 3.5T Sport Prestige AWD model. The mid-size luxury vehicle blends cutting-edge technology with an elegant design, offering the well-healed an enhanced driving experience in the sedan segment.

Even someone less than well-healed (like me) can experience the unmistakable difference.

“The newly designed 2025 G80 represents the latest evolution of our sedan lineup,” said Claudia Marquez, CEO of Genesis Motor North America. “With its refined performance, advanced technologies, and enhanced interior cabin, G80 continues to set new standards in the executive sedan segment, offering our customers an unparalleled blend of sophistication and innovation.”

My top-of-the-line trim level starts at $77,000, and includes everything, with the exception of a “Blue Capri” coat of enamel that adds $680 to the final tab. At first glance, the 20-inch sport alloy wheels, panoramic roof, dual exhaust tips, power-folding outside mirrors and Genesis logo puddle lamps are all discernible.

What I noticed first, from behind the wheel, was the G80’s power. Equipped with am old-fashioned gasoline 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, Sport Prestige produces an impressive 375 horsepower with torque to match. The engine is paired with an eights-peed automatic transmission. Passing vehicles at freeway speed does not present a challenge for the G80. Avoiding a speeding ticket does.

With that much power at one’s disposal, stopping and handling become even more important. Standard four-piston fixed mono block front brake calipers and a sport-tuned, electronically controlled suspension are up to the task, keeping the G80 under control at all times.

And, of course, all-wheel drive adds all-season versatility, an important consideration for the outdoors-inclined, and sometimes brutal Northwest winter driving conditions.

A quiet interior and refined handling create the illusion of traveling at a slower speed, while slathering up to five passengers with decadent comfort and creature comforts.

A 27-inch OLED glass instrument cluster includes navigation and all the car’s interior features. Heated and cooled Nappa leather seats are form fitting, with further adjustments available, if needed. Other goodies include three-zone climate control, power rear sunshade, panoramic roof, carbon fiber trim, heated console armrest, head-up display, Bang & Olufson premium audio with 12 speakers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless device charger, four USB ports, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Sirius XM radio, and more.

Sport Prestige adds rear wheel steering, rear electronic-limited slip differential,, and a SPORT+ drive mode and no extra charge. It also includes a surround view monitor, remote smart parking assist, power door closure and microsuede headliner and pillars. No detail is ignored.

Rounding out the G80’s long list of attributes is unbeatable advanced safety technology that will protect your family, and provide driver confidence to match.

Safety suite features include forward-collision avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, driver attention warning, forward attention warning, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, parking distance warning and collision avoidance assist, safe exit assist and advanced rear occupant alert.

Genesis parts and assembly originate in South Korea and won numerous automotive awards and accolades.
