Gnarls Barkley have moved up the release date for its new album, “The Odd Couple,” to today. Like right now.
The album’s original release date was April 8, but the record is now available on iTunes. Physical copies hit stores March 25, the same day as that new record from the Raconteurs.
A press release on the duo’s Web site described the change of plans.
“They felt the timing was right to just go for it,” said an unnamed spokesman for the band. “With the shifting seasons, furtive romantic entanglements and fierce college basketball rivalries, the latter half of March can be confusing. People need to be soothed and inspired now.”
Granted, this also could have something to do with the fact the album got leaked, and people have been downloading it for free (or so I hear).
But hey, know what? The Raconteurs and Gnarls Barkley don’t only have crazy release schedules in common. Back in 2006, both groups played Lollapalooza, and the Raconteurs trotted out this sweet version of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy.”
That’s some good stuff right there.
