Here’s a chance for aspiring singers and musicmakers to enter what could be called “Snohomish County’s Got Talent” or “Snohomish County Idol.”
The people behind the Hometown Hootenanny that’s been creating some fun at the Historic Everett Theatre will host what they’re calling a Hometown Hootenanny Singers’ Showdown.
It’ll be a two-part competition with three categories that focus on country, folk and bluegrass: under-16 vocalists, adult vocalists and original compositions.
Open auditions are scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. July 19 and 20.
People can perform along to a record track or self-accompaniment on guitar or piano.
The public is welcome to attend.
Admission to the auditions is free, but donations are requested.
The final judging is planned for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13 with a chance to win cash, prizes and an opportunity to appear in a future Hometown Hootenanny show.
Regular admission prices will apply to the final judging.
Both rounds of the competition will take place at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Avenue in Everett
Judges for the final round include Mark Hibbert, owner of Whiskey Ridge Recording Studio; Jeremy Randall of the Hometown Hootenanny Band; and Flo the Traffic Goddess from KMPS Radio.
The audience also will have a chance to weigh in.
