Arts of Snohomish at the Carnegie, a showcase for more than two dozen local artists displaying a variety of two- and three-dimensional art, is holding its grand opening celebration this weekend.
Located in a modern addition to the old Carnegie, 105 Cedar St., Snohomish, the new artists cooperative features works by its various members.
Arts of Snohomish is recruiting more members and would like to add artists who work in disciplines such as jewelry and fabric. The organization plans to offer art classes, workshops and educational programs.
The grand opening celebration is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The artists cooperative is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 360-568-8648 or visit www.artsofsnohomish.org.
“Translucence: Light in Photopainting and Glass” is the title of an exhibit opening today at the Point Elliot Art Center Gallery, 724 First St., Mukilteo, featuring the works of a photo artist and two glass artists.
A two-day open house is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at the arts center.
There will be glass-blowing demonstrations both days and a meet-the-artist reception from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight with music and refreshments.
The exhibit features work by Colombian artist Juan Ulloa, who specializes in photopainting, a process in which colors and shapes are taken from photographs and digitally manipulated into abstract images with figurative qualities.
Studio glass artists Elizabeth Fiattarone and Ryan Staub are showing their art glass. They will be at the gallery to talk about their work.
“Translucence” is on view at the gallery noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, through March 7. For more information, call 425-290-9500.
Ceramic artist Sam Scott gives a demonstration 2 to 4 p.m. today at Gallery North, 122 Fifth Ave. S., Edmonds (in the Dayton Place Mall). The Shoreline resident creates functional pottery such as vases, teapots and bowls that are decorated with abstract designs in blues, browns and grays. For more information, call 425-774-0946.
Take A Bough Productions presents “Bunnicula” at Frank Wagner Middle School, 639 W. Main St., Monroe, through Feb. 22.
“Bunnicula” was written by Joe Klein and produced by special arrangement with Seattle Children’s Theatre. Terry Simon directs.
Based on the popular children’s story by Deborah and James Howe, this musical is about a menacing baby rabbit with fangs, and is told from the point of view of the family pets, Harold the dog and Chester the cat.
