Grateful Dead looking lively

Yes, Jerry Garcia died many years ago. But the lead guitarist of The Grateful Dead lives on through the thousands of hours of recorded concert bootlegs and many concerts caught on film.

In 1974, Garcia made The Grateful Dead

Movie. It’s been remastered and is being screened tonight at more than 550 theaters around the country.

I’ll be going to the Alderwood 7 in Lynnwood to see the film on the big screen for the first time. (I caught the video back when I had hair, long hair.)

Before Garcia’s death, I caught the Dead many (maybe too many) times.

My friend who’s joining me saw the band when they played the only known Snohomish County show on Sept. 2, 1968. It was the Sky River Festival at Betty Nelson’s Organic Raspberry Farm in Sultan. You can read about that concert in Julie Muhlstein’s column that she wrote on that concert’s 40th anniversary.

Tell us about the Dead shows you saw. Post a comment below, and keep on truckin’.
