It pays to read your local newspaper. (Ahem.)
Today, while browsing The Herald online, I found an interesting story in The Enterprise, one of The Herald family’s smaller publications based in Lynnwood.
Writer Chris Fyall interviewed the organizers of Green for Good, a new Edmonds-based venture at www.GreenforGood.com, designed to encourage green lifestyles and values. More than 500 people are already sign up to be registered users, all eligible for “greenie” points acquired through interaction with the site using polls, posts, pics and more.
Though it’s a cool concept and appears to have made a strong showing so far, I was most intrigued by an event the nationally minded startup is reportedly hosting — a Green Power Baby Shower Expo set to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 3 at the Sheraton Hotel, 1400 Sixth Ave., Seattle.
Pregnancy and motherhood seem to be driving families to cleaner, greener more chemical-free living, now more than ever. I think a green baby expo could be just the thing to help push the movement along.
I haven’t been able to dig up more details yet. I’ve emailed president David Kaufer directly for information.
Watch this space or check back with Green for Good for updates.
