Handbags galore: Get yourself a stylin’ new purse for a good cause

1. Summer spray

There’s nothing quite like cooling off on a hot day with 55 gallons of water from a splash bucket.

The Hazel Miller Spray Park in Edmonds City Park is finally open for the summer from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Push one of two activator buttons to start the water flow. Spraying begins about three minutes later.

In addition to that splash bucket, the park, at 600 Third Ave. S., Edmonds, has arched sprinklers and ground-spray fixtures.

2. Seahawk shoutouts

Cameo is raising the bar with celebrity interactions.

The new social media platform allows people to request personalized video shoutouts from their favorite athletes, reality television stars and other celebrities.

The videos can be anything from happy birthday wishes to relationship advice.

Seattle Seahawks fans should be happy to hear that several players can be contacted through their personal Cameo booking pages, including cornerback Justin Coleman, safety Kam Chancellor and defensive tackle Garrison Smith. More at www.bookcameo.com.

3. Stylin’ handbags

Buy a handbag and help end domestic violence.

The ninth annual Handbag and Luncheon is from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Angels of the Winds Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett.

Proceeds from the event, hosted by Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County, will go to the nonprofit organization’s services and programs, which are offered for free to victims of abuse.

The lunch is $30 per person. Visit www.dvs-snoco.org or call 425-259-2827, ext. 1013 for more information.
