Sunshine! This weekend! The forecasters have promised, and they may have to go into hiding if Mother Nature doesn’t deliver. Here are some ways to enjoy it:
Visit Edmonds: The Edmonds Waterfront Festival has a bit of something for everyone. Whether you like Irish singers or comic juggl
ers, rock wall climbing or classic yachts, trout fishing or giant inflatable rides, this festival has you covered. It begins Friday at 3 p.m. and runs through the weekend. You can read about it here.
Watch hydroplane races: Grab a chair and a picnic basket and head to Silver Lake to watch the mini hydroplane races. The event is from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday. You can read more about it here.
Visit the animal farm: The Forest Park Animal Farm opens for the season on Saturday. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and it’s free. More here.
Buy some veggies: Sunday is the first day of Everett’s weekend farmers market. The market is 11 a.m to 4 p.m. next to Lombardi’s on W. Marine View Drive. Taste something: A free herb and food fair at Bastyr University in Kenmore focuses on both the flavors and health benefits of good food. There are also vendors, activities for kids and tours of the gardens and surrounding woods. The event is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in Kenmore. Read more about it here.
And keep the kids off the couch: The Get Movin’ family fitness program begins Saturday with sign-ups from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alderwood mall, Everett Mall, Allen Creek Elementary in Marysville and Monroe YMCA. The program is free but registration required; Learn more here.
